Part Time Dirt Tracker and Road Racer Jimmy Wood #66e was fast qualifer and the man slotted to win the final AMA Flat track at Springfield. This of course all changed when he and #17 Henry Wiles tangled going into turn 1, which also took down Fast50s rider Jake Johnson #14.

At the restart, coming from last place (the Penalty line), he motored back all the way to seventh place at the line. Mind you 110 rider's tried to qualify for this race and only 16 men made the cut.
