Skip's at Carnegie is known throughout the world
for its superior and challenging hills. They have been the home
for Hillclimbing for over 30 years!! You may have seen events like
this on TV but you need to experience this sport in person to appreciate
the riders, the bikes, and the atmosphere!!
Fast50s was contacted by Dave Duffin, promoter
and host for Skips at Carnegie in 2005. Dave and the staff at Skips
have heard about and seen the excitement created by Fast50s and
pit bike racing. They offered to partner with Fast50s to include
Saturday Pit Bike Races under the lights. Fast50s staff attended
2 weekends in 2006 and sponsored 2 more pit bike events. This a
great event for spectators and racers of all ages. Two days of hillclimbing
and Saturday night pit bike races makes for an enjoyable time for
the whole family. You can camp at Carnegie or commute each day......we
recommend camping or staying in a local motel in Tracy or Livermore.
At Fast50s first event in April 2006, we set up
our trailer and vendor booth for the whole weekend. We also assisted
Skip's crew in putting together the first Saturday night pit bike
race. Fast50s own Ray Groom, AKA Spike, was the MC. Fast50s sales
representative and rider supprt administrator, Jennifer, worked
with Skips staff setting up classes, score keeping, and award presentations.
Fast50 riders Craig Mason and Mike Northrop came out and showed
everyone what a modified 50 and riding skill can really kick out!
Nor-Cal riders from "50 Nutz" included Ryan Foley and
Mike James. These guys put on an equal show for the spectators.
There were also another 30 or more riders to show the crowd what
mini racing is all about. The crowd of over 100 circled the track,
some with a beer in hand, some with children on shoulders,,,,,,,all
cheering for the riders. The turnout for this first time event was
small compared to highly promoted minibike races but we know everyone
had as good of as time as any.
